Melody of Ice

Minori comes over to Xen and pulls on her cloak to show that they're leaving toward the small shack in the distance "lets go~~"

"...oh, yes, of course." mumbles Xen.

The group heads over to the shack, upon getting there, a rather short, fellow nearly covered in coal dust. he looks up at us "Welcome, here to sight see?"

Kori steps up to the man and kneels "why yes, could u show us the way into the city?" the man opens the door "right this way" the shack has a rather, unsafe looking shaft that seems to go down a hole

Xen's eyes widen. "This certainly looks. .. professional." she mutters softly.

Phencyr chimes in quickly "i can assure you that its safe, i havn't seen/heard about it falling just yet" Kori, Minori, and Phencyr head onto the lift

Xen follows them in. It goes against her instincts to willingly step into a death trap, but she rationalises that she could easily escape. The others, however, might have to look after their own interests.

the shaft shakes a quick second, and starts to move down slowly. peering over the city's main street, filled with people of all races. "jeez, this place never changes, but it isn't as bad as the capital"

"The Capital? " Xen speaks up over the rattling of the strained, use-worn contraption. She leans backward against the railing, gazing out over the visible scenery she seems quite relaxed. .. but every glance she gives Phencyr is still full of derision.

Phencyr looks over "hm? yeah i've traveled a bunch in my lifetime..." she peers back at the city and steps off the lift once it stops "you should probably find a inn"

'Hah, yeah... and pay in what, you suggest? Rocks? "

"again, i've been traveling most of my life, traveling isnt free...hired work has a profit" she clenches a little pouch, as it makes a small jingle sound

"And where will you be going?"

"well i'll be buying your rooms" she fiddles through her bag of coin "but i dont know, seems i might be short one room" she says jokingly targeting Xen

The moment the words has slid from between Phencyr's lips, it was probably quite conspicious to most that teasing her was in poor judgement from the glint in her yellow-gold eye.

She steps forward, deliberately invading the female's personal space to the degree that - if she willed - breathing in too deep might have brushed against the other. It is suddenly very apparent that Xen is fairly tall. "Oh, dear... you'll have to sleep in the street." she responds, a tone equally mocking but tainted with a hint of bitterness.

Phencyr slips a dagger down her cloak's sleeve and puts it up to Xen's throat "and yet you don't know how i acquire my money, its a very grim job and i'd rather not speak of such. So if you would, please step away." she puts her blade away and shrugs off her shoulder "you said yourself you had no money. here i am offering you money, or rather room and food, and you treat me so poorly...how cold of you outcast" the last word said with more emphasis to make it sting. "if you wish to inquire about my job, i suggest u follow me to the inn, making a scene on the streets isn't the best of ideas"

Xen doesn't flinch at the blade, and she doesn't back off. "And perhaps you wouldn't speak to me
like that if you were a little better informed." she clenches her fist "I will blunt that dagger and bend it in half, if you wish." with a purposeful flick of her tail and a noise like a sword being drawn from its sheath she steps back, articulating to her unwanted companion the end of the exchange.

Kori grabs the tail and quickly freezes it with 7 of his crystals to make sure it doesnt move, pushing the two away from each other "now, we're already making a scene so lets leave already" he unfreezes the tail and lets the two go. Phencyr just shrugs them both off and turns to head for the inn, Kori and Minori following shortly after

Xen folds her arms. Why would they trust such a savage?
She turns, and defiantly wanders off in the opposite direction.

Kori comes back and whispers in her ear "you know, u should stick with us, them hunters couldnt have just called off the search for you, they will be following us"

She sighs.
"I fail to see what benefit there'd be to you... the Hunter would continue to chase me, and you could slip back into hiding."

"there is none, just dont like abandoning someone in your situation" he scruffs "come on, just go with us, when was the last time you had a hot meal?"

Xen glances back at him, and then continues to walk. Certainly, it's a very tempting offer, but accepting hospitality from the strange woman? Siding with these foxes had worked out fortunately, but it had been a mistake. She wasn't about repeat such a brazen risk without good reason.

"May I ask you something, Kori?"

he tilts his head "what is it?"

"Why do you trust that girl? Have you not seen her kind before?"

Kori puts a hand up to his chin thinking a bit "well, i remember some elves around the town talking about 'the night of the blood moon' and that anyone that is born on that day is exiled from the village of elves" he ponders a little more "if the story is true, those born on that day cant see in the day and are rendered nearly useless. Would explain why Phencyr jumped when you sparked the fire. i just wanna be sure that all she is, is a traveling merc"
